Beginning with Let's Stay Together in 1972, he reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart with six consecutive albums. He's achieved eight number one singles, with six number hits from 1972-1975. 40 years later, on January 19, 2012, President Barack Obama added his Presidential touch to a Green's classic by singing the opening line of 'Let's Stay Together' at a fundraiser at The Apollo Theater in New York City following Green's performance.
